Quill Valley Exotics is a hobby breeder of pedigreed lesser Madagascar tenrecs. We’re located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We service MD, VA, WV and DE. We have been breeding hedgehogs since 2018, and began breeding tenrecs in 2021. We no longer breed hedgehogs and are happy to refer you to a breeder near you. Quill Valley Exotics is an official founding member of the HBoA (Hedgehog Breeders of America) & AHC (American Hedgehog Community). What separates us from other breeders is the care, love and attention that we give our animals, and the top quality customer service that we provide. All of our babies are well socialized. We handle our babies frequently once they’re at a safe age to ensure proper socialization. Our facility is kept clean, and is sanitized regularly to protect our animals’ health. We want to provide our customers with happy, healthy and well socialized animals. We believe our customers deserve great reliable communication with their breeder, so we’re always available to answer questions and help with solutions. However, it is essential that you read through all of our policies and care information if you want to adopt from us. If you are interested in adopting one of our precious tenrec babies, please fill out the pre-adoption questionnaire for the animal (link below).
A little bit about the owner-
Hello, my name is Victoria Rodgers, and I am the owner of Quill Valley Exotics.
Prior to starting my animal breeding programs, I was a small animal rescuer that specialized in hedgehogs for a few years. I wanted to gather as much experience with as many variables of owning hedgehogs as possible before I began breeding them, and I felt like rescuing animals would be the best way to accomplish that. Also, it meant that I got to help hedgehogs in need! Additionally, six years ago I was faced with being forced to work from home due to chronic health issues, it made working a conventional job impossible. I found over the years that hedgehogs & tenrecs are great emotional support animals, and I felt that breeding them would bring me joy and a purpose in my life at a time when I felt lost. I wanted to be able to provide people in my area with healthy well socialized animals because there are no other pedigreed breeders within over an hour from me. Tenrecs are one of my biggest passions in life, but I do have some other passions. One of my other passions is my other business for small animal accessories and jewelry for animal lovers. This can be found on Etsy and Facebook. I not only have a love for small animals, but also a love for dogs, I own two wonderful little chihuahuas. Additionally, I have a love for larger animals. I grew up on a horse and beef cattle farm, so my love for animals came from growing up surrounded by animals all the time. That is when I learned to respect animals and what it takes to properly care for them.
